Camo & Krooked are back with their new album Zeitgeist. Two years on and the follow up to Cross The Line truly encapsulates the sound of Camo & Krooked 2.0. Already seeing heavyweight DJ support from across the board, Zeitgeist is jam-packed with disco, French house and minimal influences, which are merged together with the signature Camo & Krooked drum & bass sound to form an awe-inspiring 15-track package. The album also features key collaborations with fellow Hospital star Metrik and Norwegian indie-electronic duo Lemâitre. Kicking things off is the epic Turn Back The Time which introduces us into this brave new world of sultry synths, sharp beats and disco-influenced aesthetics which form the backbone of the album. Then we have the familiar sounds of the ever-catchy, undulating white noise of All Night and dancefloor detonator Move Around (featuring Ian Shaw). Watch out for other gems including Aurora (featuring Metrik) with its epic trance-like soundscape, the soulful sounds of Loving You Is Easy, the enticing and experimental Ruhepuls and collaborative smasher Dreamcatcher (featuring Lemaitre) with its fidgety beats and infectiously upbeat vibe.

Shawn Brush was born with morquio disease, one of the causes of dwarfism. He loves life, but rarely has a pain-free day. “I say this,” says Shawn, who is 38, “not to evoke any sympathy or even empathy. “Being a little person is not being a mini-you,” he says. “I am not just a regular, normal person in the body half the size of an average-sized person. “Being small is not a regular life from a lower-to-the-ground perspective. “It is not being a man in a child’s body,” says Shawn. In fact, it is quite the opposite. Shawn is a young man living in an old man’s body. When he was in his mid-20s a doctor told him he had the bones of an 85-year-old! “Don’t ever think I wouldn’t have liked to be a strapping six-footer with a wife, kids, job. But I am happy in the body I am in’’ Shawn is a singer-songwriter. He’s released 11 CDs in the past 15 years, many of them showcasing his own compositions. Shawn has a number of goals. One is to go on tour, but that may never happen. His health and energy limit him. He finds it difficult to play two nights in a row – even sleeping in his own bed each night. Another is to be independent – busking in 2007 took him closer to that goal. Yet another is to have others read his story and be inspired to reach their full potential. This book could achieve that!

The drum and bass album of 2011 features collaborations with some of the UK s finest vocalists and producers, including Bristol based TC, trance vocalist Shaz Sparks, everyone s favorite drum and bass diva Jenna G, Viper Records boss Futurebound, and soulful singer Ayah Marar. Cross The Line is everything you would expect and more from the Viennese pair: a 14 song rollercoaster ride of emotions, veering between polished vocal-led beauties to filthy tear out monsters. This album firmly establishes Camo & Krooked outside the drum and bass sphere, as they delve into dubstep, drumstep, electro-house and everything in between. Highlights from across the high octane adventure include opener Get Dirty with its bouncing, lively melody and feel good vocals, previous single and dubstep smash All Fall Down / Breezeblock, and the euphoric feel good fuzziness of title track Cross The Line. Elsewhere The Lesson adds a grittier, urban edge, Funk You brings in some punchy electro-house to the mix, whilst Afterlife brings the album to a sensual close, with rippling synths and hypnotic glow. All in all, it s an outstanding offering from Camo & Krooked which proves they are soaring well ahead of the game. This is the sound of the future!
